Abril 26, el mundo conmemora los 35 años del desastre nuclear de Chernobil.
El mundo entero apoya a Ucrania para honrar la memoria de las víctimas y recordando el heroísmo de los socorristas. Sus sacrificios y sufrimientos no deben ser olvidados.
En el año 1986, el Congreso Mundial de Ucrania – Ukranian World Congress (UWC) y sus organizaciones miembros ayudaron a exponer el encubrimiento soviético y la negación del peor desastre nuclear de la historia. Nuestras comunidades proveyeron primeros auxilios de inmediato y luego del desastre y contribuyeron a movilizar ayuda internacional.
En las décadas subsiguientes, la UWC y sus miembros contribuyeron con numerosos programas de asistencia médica, humanitaria y técnica para lidiar y hacer frente a las consecuencias del peor desastre nuclear. La comunidad internacional contribuyó con cientos de millones de dólares para ayudar a contener y remediar las graves consecuencias.
Luego de 35 años, el legado soviético de Chernobil aún persigue a Ucrania. Hoy Ucrania se enfrenta a una nueva catástrofe medioambiental humana, causada por Moscú. Los territorios ucranios de la península de Crimea y la región del Donbas ocupados por Rusia son zonas de desastre ambiental. La contaminación del aire y del suelo, los derrames químicos, las minas inundadas y la amenaza de la contaminación radioactiva en Donbas y la contaminación del Mar Negro y Mar de Azov, son todas consecuencias de la agresión rusa y el desprecio por la vida Humana.
El presidente de la UWC Paul Grod manifesta que Putin sentenció a Chernobil a lo que es hoy el este de Ucrania y Crimea. Moscú ha creado nuevamente y está encubriendo una serie de desastres humanitarios y ambientales que afectan a millones de personas, sumado a la guerra iniciada hace siete años, para restablecer la hegemonía de Moscú en el espacio post-soviéticas. Tal como hicieran los soviéticos cuando negaron y encubrieron toda la verdad de lo que sucedió en Chernobyl, Putin miente y distorsiona la verdad sobre las tragedias y el desastre que sigue causando. Debemos mostrar la gran mentira de Putin.

26 квітня увесь світ відзначає 35 роковини Чорнобильської катастрофи та підтримує Україну у вшануванні пам’яті жертв трагедії, а також відважних ліквідаторів. Їхні страждання та посвята ніколи не будуть забуті.
У 1986 році, Світовий Конґрес Українців (СКУ) та його складові організації допомагали викрити радянську владу в приховуванні та запереченні найстрашнішої ядерної катастрофи в історії людства. Відразу після трагедії світові українські громади надавали екстрену допомогу та робили все, щоб залучити міжнародну підтримку. Впродовж наступних десятиліть СКУ та його складові організації запровадили численні програми медичної, гуманітарної та технічної допомоги для подолання наслідків ядерної катастрофи. Міжнародна спільнота надала сотні мільйонів доларів допомоги для стримування та ліквідації наслідків аварії.
Через 35 років радянська спадщина Чорнобиля продовжує переслідувати Україну. Сьогодні країна зіткнулася з новою техногенною екологічною катастрофою, яку так само спричинила Москва. Окуповані Росією території Криму та Донбасу є зонами екологічного лиха. Забруднення повітря й ґрунту, витоки хімічних речовин, затоплені шахти та загроза радіоактивного забруднення на Донбасі, забруднення Чорного та Азовського морів – усе це наслідки російської агресії та нехтування людськими життями.
«Путін приніс «Чорнобилі» до теперішньої Східної України та Криму. Дії Москви знову призвели до гуманітарних та екологічних катастроф, що торкнулися життів мільйонів людей. Це на додаток до війни, яку Путін розв’язав сім років тому, намагаючись відновити гегемонію Москви на пострадянському просторі, – зазначив Президент СКУ Павло Ґрод. – Так само, як радянська влада заперечувала і приховувала те, що сталося в Чорнобилі, Путін бреше і спотворює правду про трагедії та катастрофи, які продовжують відбуватися. Ми мусимо викрити велику брехню Путіна».

Chornobyl Deadly Legacy: 35 years on
On April 26, the world marks 35 years since the Chornobyl nuclear disaster. The world stands with Ukraine in honouring the memory of the victims and remembering the heroism of the emergency responders. Their sacrifices and suffering must never be forgotten.
In 1986, the Ukrainian World Congress and its member organizations helped expose the Soviet cover up and denial of the worst nuclear disaster in history. Our communities provided emergency aid immediately following the disaster and helped mobilize international support. In the decades that followed, UWC and its member organizations contributed numerous programs of medical, humanitarian, and technical assistance to deal with the legacy of the nuclear power disaster. The international community contributed hundreds of millions of dollars to help contain and remediate the fallout.
After 35 years, the Soviet legacy of Chornobyl still haunts Ukraine. Today Ukraine faces a new man-made environmental catastrophe at the hands of Moscow. Russian-occupied territories of Ukraine’s Crimea Peninsula and Donbas region are zones of environmental disaster. Air and soil contamination, chemical spills, flooded mines, and the threat of radioactive contamination in Donbas, pollution of the Black and Azov seas are all consequences of Russian aggression and disregard for human life.
“Putin has delivered ‘Chornobyls’ to present-day Eastern Ukraine and Crimea. Moscow has once again created and is covering-up a series of humanitarian and environmental disasters affecting millions of people in addition to the war unleashed seven years ago to re-establish Moscow’s hegemony in the post-Soviet-space,” stated Paul Grod, UWC President. “Much like the Soviets when they denied and covered up the truth about what happened in Chornobyl, Putin lies and distorts the truth about the tragedies and disaster he continues to cause. We must expose Putin’s big lie.”
